We are proud to announce that the two sessions of the Skateboarding Instructor Certification Program in Jamaica was a success ! 14 new instructors have been certified, a first on the island.
Under the supervision of coach Valentin Lepagnez 🇫🇷, this session is taking place between Bull Bay and Boston Bay, with participants coming from three parishes: Saint Andrew, Portland, and Saint James.
👏 Congratulations to our dedicated students: Thomas, Hakeem, Chike, Marc, Tray, and Ramiesh – for their outstanding commitment and their drive to become certified instructors ready to contribute to the growth of their local communities through skateboarding.
Just like in Bull Bay, we also organized a skate contest in Boston Bay for local skaters, allowing students to practice their judging skills in real conditions.
This program is part of a broader development initiative led by Jamaica Skate Culture, which includes the upcoming arrival of a mobile skatepark built in Germany 🇩🇪 by IOU RAMPS. This unique tool will help us host workshops and outreach events across the island, especially in areas that currently lack proper skateboarding infrastructure.
🙏 Special thanks to Ambassador Olivier Guyonvarch and his team, including Antoine P S Smnl, to the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and to the Fédération Française de Roller et Skateboard (FFRS) for their crucial support of this educational and community-driven initiative.
We also thank Minister Fayval Williams for her ongoing support, and Benjamin Garcia for his excellent work during the first session, where he trained 11 students.
