Freedom Skatepark trip to St Thomas

Video from Concrete Jungle Foundation channel : “Most children in Jamaica have not been to school since the start of the pandemic. Some fall through the cracks of the online education system, as not everyone has access to a device or an internet connection. With support from @sandalsfoundation in funding and @seprodfoundation in alimentation, we started our Homework Programme at the Freedom Skatepark to provide more accessibility to education for our regular skatepark visitors. The youth responded incredibly well and engaged in our classes on a daily basis… despite having the beautiful @freedomskateparkja right next to the classroom to skate. We are proud our students value their education, so we took them on a fieldtrip before the Summer Programme starts at the Freedom Skatepark. Bigs ups to our teacher @icahwilmot” CJF

More skateboards and less guns urges Blvk H3ro

Singer and songwriter Blvk H3ro sees himself as a cultural ambassador and his sermon is positive vibes and youth upliftment, which he says are especially needed in this disturbing era. “I need to stay clean and provide a different avenue for the youth.
What we need is more skateboards, more skate parks and less guns,” the Original singer stated. The Rastafarian entertainer has been giving his full support to the Freedom Skatepark and Youth Centre in Bull Bay, St Andrew, and says he is pleased that the first time it went viral was after he posted it on Twitter. “It’s a joy to go there and see all types of people enjoying themselves. Blvk H3ro says he supports the venture by doing his television interviews from the location, and even when he is told that he can have it to use free of cost, he still pays.
“We need a skate park in every parish,” he said

March 8 th 2020 Biggest skatepark contest in Jamaica

March 8 th 2020 Biggest skate contest in Jamaica, one week before Covid madness… at Boston Bay Skatepark…

Article on the Gleaner
On March 8 th was organized by the French association Paris Skate Culture a skate BMX event in the first concrete skate park of Jamaica in Boston Bay. The Park was achieved end of 2019. A JUTC Bus came from the surf camp Jamnesia Bull bay with 60 riders. The purpose of this event was to celebrate the growth of skate and BMX in Jamaica with the building of a second skate park this month: FREEDOM skate park in 8 miles Bull bay. An attempt to build one in (UWI ) Kingston in April 2019 didn’t get through even though  the work was ninety percent done, 138 company and UWI stopped the charity project before pouring concrete for “administrative reasons.”

In Boston about a hundred riders were gathered and demonstrated their passion for these two new Olympic sports, knowing that surf will also be in 2020. The event was a success local people came to enjoy the show and participate in the initiations. Demos by to pro riders like Evan Mock from Hawaii and Benjamin Garcia (World & European champion in 2017 / 2018) from France have excited the audience and took this JAM’ session to another level. Jamaican skaters like Shama Beckford, Ronald and Ivah Wilmot participated as well as locals ZULU and TATTY the skate girl  (fourteen years old). Some say it was the biggest skate event ever held in Jamaica. There is no doubt that skateboarding and BMX are the sports of tomorrow and that the youth of today want their share and that they are surely among them the future Olympic athletes of Jamaica for Paris 2024…Freedom skatepark with be finished in April. An historical moment for JA skaters !
To follow their adventures and progress on Instagram follow @concretejunglefoudation @pariskateculture @freedomskatepakja Their MOTTO “Skate or die! “

Competitions results: Best tricks: 1st Evan Mock Hawaii, 2nd Shama Beckford JA, 3d Jakes USA “- Games of Skate: 1st Aner ‘Curly’ Israel (volunteer for 3 months Boston BBCC center), 2nd Shama Beckford JA
